Financial scams: AMF blacklist of fraudulent platforms (Edition 5)

Scams related to investments in cryptocurrencies, forex, art, wine, real estate funds (SCPI), and other assets are increasingly affecting both inexperienced investors and professionals.

These platforms have been identified as potentially fraudulent by authorities or reported by investors. It is strongly recommended to always verify whether a financial intermediary is properly authorized before making any investment, especially through official registers and regulatory blacklists.

To protect investors, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) banned the marketing, distribution, and sale of binary options to retail investors in the European Union on July 2, 2018. This ban was renewed in March 2019.

The French Financial Markets Authority (AMF) also regularly publishes information about financial instruments and maintains an updated list of platforms offering services without authorization — known as the AMF “blacklist”.

Fraud schemes often follow similar patterns, but are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Fraudulent platforms promise guaranteed returns on cryptocurrencies, forex, gold, wine, parking spaces, care home investments, and more. Through phone calls, social media, or email campaigns, scammers persuade investors to open trading accounts or crypto wallets on well-known platforms such as Coinbase, Crypto.com, Kraken, or Binance.

The goal is to use these platforms to receive funds from victims in cryptocurrencies — a payment method that is difficult to trace and therefore preferred by fraudsters.
